4 December 2021

Covid-19 has arrived in Nelson the same week as we have moved to the new Covid-19 Protection Framework (the traffic light system). Despite the local cases, we are currently at Orange level.

As Acupuncture NZ is a member of Allied Health Aotearoa NZ (AHANZ) we are considered to be part of the health services and can therefore not discriminate between those who have or have not been vaccinated. I shall therefore be able to continue to treat all those who wish to attend my clinic in the coming weeks.

Obviously all precautions will need to be taken to minimise any risk of the transmission of the virus.

There are a number of questions I shall be asking everyone ahead of their appointments regarding locations of interest, contact with others who have tested positive to Covid-19 and whether or not you have any respiratory symptoms such as sore throat, runny nose, coughing or sneezing or any loss of taste or smell. If you do have any of these symptoms then I cannot have you in the clinic and will be recommending that you go for a Covid-19 test as soon as possible.

Everyone will have to scan themselves in when attending for an appointment.

Please don’t come early to your appointment – wait in your car if you do arrive early so that we don’t have several people at once in the waiting area. I shall do all I can to ensure that appointments run to time and the person ahead of you has left before you arrive.

I shall keep my distance from you as much as possible and minimise the time we spend together in the treatment toom. I shall also ensure that the rooms are well ventilated and that linen is changed after each person.

Masks will need to be worn – by me as well as you – especially in any area where you may come into contact with anyone else attending the clinic. Clearly wearing a mask when you have to be face-down for treatment of your back is not at all practical so you will be able to take it off in that situation.

Stay safe everyone, look after yourselves and each other.
